BUSINESS FRAUDS Deceptions and frauds in whatever form have no place in civilized society. Yet, they continue to persist – particularly in the field of business. For as long as man is motivated by greed, they will always be present in our society. Both acts are illegal, immoral and hence, unethical as well. Primarily characterized by the presence of malicious intent, they try to take advantage of the weakness of gullible persons and consumers and of the prevailing situation. In deception, there is double-dealing and duplicity, trickery and prevarication. Frauds include deceit many not reach the gravity of a fraud, but of a pretty sort. Fraud is commonly actionable at law; cheating for the most part our of the reach of legal proceedings. Deceit is especially applied to the habit; deception; to the act.
