Ordinate – Abscissa Point Schemer Chapter I PROJECT OVERVIEW Background of the Study Mathematics is the numerical and calculation part of man's life and knowledge. It helps the man to give exact interpretation to his ideas and conclusions. (“Significance of Mathematics”, 2008) An important innovation of Mathematics was the invention of algebraic notation where we represent an unknown value by a letter such as x. The ability to state mathematical relationships as formulas greatly improves the ability to introduce abstractions. Algebra is about finding the unknown or it is about putting real life problems into equations and then solving them. Unfortunately many textbooks go straight to the rules, procedures and formulas, forgetting that these are real life problems being solved. Algebra is a branch of mathematics that substitutes letters for numbers. An algebraic equation represents a scale, what is done on one side of the scale with a number is also done to the other side of the scale. The numbers are the constants. Algebra can include real numbers, complex numbers, matrices, vectors etc. (“What is Algebra? Why Take Algebra?”, n. d.) Human beings didn’t invent math concepts; we discovered them. Also, the language ...

... table of values, colored cartesian coordinate plane and line graphs and command button clicking. Conclusions: Base on the findings, the following are the conclusions: 1. Processes involved in developing Equation Plotter require knowledge in Algebra as well as deep understanding and programming skills in Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0. 2. Effective teaching by the teachers/instructors and deeper understanding of equations are needed to achieve better graphs. Recommendations: The following are the recommendations for further development of the Ordinate-Abscissa Point Schemer: Inclusion of other types of equation Due to lack of time, the respondents did not manage to include other types of equations such as Logarithmic, Trigonometric and etc. More inputs to be process The user cannot input more than one equation at the same time. More than One Graph on the Cartesian Plane The program can output graph of a single equation at a time. Denote (x,y) points in the graph of the equation The x,y points connected forming a line must be indicated in the graph to locate the points passed by the graph.
