Anteprima della tesi: First Amendment
There is a lot of controversy when it comes to analyzing the meaning of each amendment because they were written in very vague and general terms. The final judge of what the Constitution means is the United States Supreme Court which gives them the ability to identify our rights and decide their limits.
The first amendment guarantees that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” Freedom of expression is a very important right, for democracy cannot thrive unless the government allows its people to criticize and challenge the government’s policies ...
... movies, magazines, etc for people’s decisions because it is the choice of the individual to look at it, be influenced, and take action. The government has already prohibited ‘indecent and profane’ language on the air. I hope it stops there or one day sex and violence will be censored out too. Censoring what the media can is an impingent on the First Amendment. Our nation has taken great strides since the beginning to the where we are to do, I just hope we don’t take steps back.
