INTRODUCTION ROLE OF PR IN SELLING COCA-COLA PRODUCTS IN NYANZA PROVINCE IN KENYA Public relations is the planned and sustained effort to establish and maintain goodwill and understanding between an organisation and its stakeholders. The stakeholders include; Employees, customers, suppliers, agents, the Govt, media organisations and their audiences, and the general community within which the organisation operates. Public Relations is a management function through which an organisation creates understanding through knowledge that involves communication both internally and externally. Internal communication that counts to good relations within the organisation includes both lateral and horizontal communication. Lateral communication is communication from the top management of an organisation to the Employees and the subordinates or communication from the Employees to the top managers of the organisation. External communication focuses on stakeholders who operate outside. All these communications greatly influence the stakeholder’s image of the organisation and therefore can affect the sales of goods and services of that organisation. Public Relations is a tool for both profit and non profit making organisations.
