Anteprima della tesi: Saint Thomas Aquinas and Man's Transcendentalism
An Overview St. Thomas Aquinas is generally acclaimed as the greatest Theologian of mankind. His teachings are mainly embodied in his two monumental works: The Summa Theologica, and Summa Contra Gentiles. In philosophy, however, which employs the natural powers of human reason alone in its investigations, Aquinas followed fundamentally the teachings of his great predecessor, Aristotle, whom he honored with the exclusive title, “The Philosopher.” However, Aquinas saw farther and beyond the vision of Aristotle who relied only on the natural powers of human reason and experience in his search for the truth. Like Aristotle, Aquinas proclaimed the supremacy of reason (rationalism) in man, ...
... calls and invites! From the foregoing considerations we see how St. Thomas Aquinas improved and perfected Aristotle’s teleological proof, proclaiming in its conclusions the existence of an ultimate cause and goal of all things to itself. In the transcendental and beatific vision of St. Thomas Aquinas, what was dimly seen in the abstract by Aristotle as the first and the last cause of all things, is clearly revealed face to face as the Transcendental Lover, God, the loving Father, who calls and invites all men, his children, to Him to share in His Infinite Bounty forever in heaven.
