Children under five years are considered to be vulnerable. They have a low level of immunity. They are mostly at risk of many diseases. The common diseases facing by this category of population are constituted by five principal diseases:
Pneumonia
Diarrhea diseases
Malaria
Measles
HIV/AIDS
A part the above list, we can add malnutrition which is also one of the most important problems facing by children under five years. Those diseases constituted the common causes of death among children population.
The Kenyan government millennium development goal is to reduce by two-thirds, between 1990 and 2015, the under-five mortality rate. Have halted by 2015, and begun to reverse, the spread of HIV/AIDS. HIV/AIDS is the major cause of children mortality and morbidity in Africa. More than 25 million people have died of AIDS since 1981. Africa has 11.6 million AIDS orphans.
