However, he who confines his thoughts to present time will not understand present reality (1963:34). This implies that the past as a whole cannot be object of science without distillation or rather rational knowledge. Reality cannot be understood better than through its causes. Hence, the line between the present and past is no longer strictly regulated by a mathematically measurable chronology. It is by understanding the present by the past and vice versa thus misunderstanding of the present is the inevitable consequence of ignorance of the past. The historians cannot escape the common law of the mind, that is, ‘why’ and ‘because’.
