CURRENT ISSUES ON MARINE POLLUTION ALONG THE COASTAL REGIONS AND THEIR IMPACTS TO THE HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM INDUSTY 1.0 ABSTRACT The coastal marine environments are dominated by coral reefs, sea grass beds and mangroves, with large expenses of sandy substrates which emerge from rivers, lakes, streams e.t.c The coast is made up of raised Pleistocene reefs on coastal plains and hills of sedimentary origin, which support native dominated by scrub bush and remnant pockets of the forests. The marine environment is characterized by warm tropical conditions varying at each surface between 25oC and 31oC during the year, stable salinity regimes and moderately high nutrient levels from terrestrial runoff and ground water.
