SUMMARISE THE MARXIST APPROACH TO HISTORICAL EXPLANATION OR CAUSATION IN HISTORY AND DISCUSS THE SALIENT WEAKNESS OF THIS THEORY. 1.0 INTRODUCTION International relations can be defined as that which includes any action by an individual, a group or a government in one country that influences the course of events in other countries. In this case, the strong do what they have the power to do and the weak accept what they have to accept. The concept of international relations specifically concerns relations between governments or rather authorities of various countries of the world. This follows that it is a term which refers to the sum total of relationships among actors (countries) in the international system. It is important to note that in this definition, ...

... particular state formulates its foreign policy, it is projected into the international system. This is because it focus is the environment external to the state itself, hence, it must be communicated, explained and executed within this environment. This implies that the goals which the foreign policy of a nation seeks are not entirely domestic but they depend upon external actions, reactions and interactions for their realization. Similarly, other foreign policies affect it, just as it affects all other foreign policies.
