An adjuvant is a substance incorporated into or injected simultaneously with antigen, which potentiates the immune response. The word adjuvant comes from the Latin word ‘adjuvere’ which means to help. Adjuvants can be divided into six groups, namely oil adjuvants, mineral salts, synthetic polymers liposomes, natural substances and ‘others’.
