MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM(M.I.S)

The desire to minimise wastage and to improve information flow for quality decision brings the conception of the need for a working management information system in various organizations. This paper intends to discuss the position of management information systems(MIS) in management of organizations, the role of various professionals in the working of management information systems(MIS) in relation to various departments. Finally the paper will discuss a case study of organization with a working management information systems(MIS) to try and tangibilize the theoretical aspect of management information systems. The paper will show the process involved in coming up with management information system( MIS) of the company.

The functioning of management information system has contributed widely in the the management and running of organisations and departments in varios w ays
For example MIS has helped to improve quality decision flow of information in organisation, it has also increasd production and marketing due to improved ways of sending information .The other details are discussed below:
1.2 Methodology of the study

Since the work deals with a case study, the methods of research will be largely qualitative. Largely relying on content analysis and information from oral interview of the personnel of the company in question.
1.3 Statement of the problem

The information has helped to support planning, controlling, organizing operations. It has enabled the organization to maitain a competative edge in the market despite increased competition.

3.3 LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY
i) time available for the case study was not enough and therefore the study restricted itself to mainly qualititive research approach. It was not possible to interactively interview the users to assess their satisfaction and motivation.
ii) Financial contrains.
3.4 AREAS SUGGESTED FOR FURTHER STUDY
i) The effect of MIS on motivation of workers and productivity.
ii) The adaptability of ABC MIS to future expansion.
