INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

The term artificial intelligence was first coined in 1956, at the Dartmouth conference which was organized by John McCarthy to draw the talent and expertise of others interested in machine intelligence for a month of brainstorming. Since then, Artificial Intelligence has expanded because of the theories and principles developed by its dedicated researchers. Early work in AI focused on using cognitive and biological models to simulate and explain human information processing skills, on "logical" systems that perform common-sense and expert reasoning, and on robots that perceive and interact with their environment. In the same year (1956), Allen Newell, J. C. Shaw and Herbert Simon introduced the first AI program, the Logic Theorist, to find the basic equations of logic as defined in Principia Mathematica by Bertrand Russell and Alfred North Whitehead. The program, representing each problem as a tree model, would attempt to solve it by selecting the branch that would most likely result in the correct conclusion

ESSAY ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE & EXPERT SYSTEMS 1.0 HISTORY OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE Evidence of Artificial Intelligence folklore can be traced back to ancient Egypt. Automata, the predecessors of today's robots, date back to ancient Egyptian figurines with movable limbs like those found in Tutankhamen's tomb. Much later, in the fifteenth century A.D., drumming bears and dancing figures on clocks were the favorite automata With the development of the electronic computer in 1941, the technology finally became available to create machine intelligence. Although the computer provided the technology necessary for AI, it was not until the early 1950's that the link between human intelligence and machines was really observed. The term artificial ...

... by linguistic processes, in the form of verbal communications, specifically adjusted to management processes. The knowledge aspect of knowledge work is related to cognitive psychology (representation and processing) and computer science (algorithms, representation, and implementation). Lastly, technology is allied with computer science because in the case of knowledge work, technology is primarily computer-based. We can say that AI and knowledge-work are homomorphic (sharing conceptual principles).
