Afghanistan and the Taliban War How did the Taliban emerge and where do they draw their strength from? Abstract It is evident that since the formation of the Taliban group most of civilians in Afghanistan have lost life and many are continuing to surfer under the mercy of this group. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the united state government have come together to assist the government of Islamic republic of Afghanistan in practicing and extending its authority over the Taliban group. In this pa-per will constantly focus on the Taliban, through analysis and discussing the emergence of the group and where they constantly draw their strength from. More to this we try to understand how this group has contributed to the set back being experienced in Afghanistan. Introduction In the year 1996, a Muslim fundamentalist group known as the Taliban took control of the Afghanistan’s government until the year 2001 where the united state led an invasion to drive it away from power. ... unemployment, diseases, malnutrition and enormous hunger which are constantly seen as common characteristics towards the people of Afghanistan. Since the leadership of the Taliban movement, a considerable portion of afghan population especially those that live within the city rely on assistance and donations normally provided by the United Nations and other humanitarian organizations.
