Impact of the Black Death Herlihy (1995) explains that The Black Death affected various parts of the world including Europe, North Africa, Asia and most of Arabia. The Black Death was caused by fleas that were carried by rats which were very common in cities and towns. The fleas simply bit into the victim thus infecting them with the disease. It was observed that the weaker the victim the quicker the death. It is believed that the Black Death came in three forms. This included the bubonic, pneumonic and septicemic of which each form killed people in a way that can be described as ferocious.
