HAMLET- WRITTEN BY SHAKESPEARE
The issue in discussion here is the character contrast that is seen in the Hamlet of the first four acts and the last act of the play. “Hamlet” is one of the greatest tragedies of Shakespeare that have invited a barrage of criticism and analysis, an in-depth study in plot, action and characterization and is one which gives great scope to any indifferent student of literature to fall back on the multitude of opinions offered and greater scope to the interested student of Literature to form individual assessments of his or her own. This tragedy which is a tale of suffering represented on the stage centers round Hamlet, the protagonist, and all the action is in some way or the other related to him

... finally shows no hesitation in pouring the poisoned drought down Claudius’s throat. He realizes that his end is imminent and charges Horatio to inform the people of his wish that Fortinbras must be the next king. We see a hero who has fulfilled his mission. The painful thoughts springing from a tortured mind in the earlier soliloquy are replaced by quiet confidence [seen in his narration of his breaking open the seal and doing away with his so-called companions] and also the final action.
