DIVERSITY IN THE WORKPLACE

This study was an assessment of the effectiveness of diversity in the workplace at BANINVEST. This research was done in order to identify any problems with discrimination. This study was conducted by examining various people from all different genders, backgrounds, races, and cultures. A questionnaire was designed to examine for compliance (see Attachment 1). This document identifies the requirement for organizations to build, develop and value a more diverse workforce. It also recommends that companies incorporate a diversity initiative that provides all people the opportunity to reach their full potential and continuously improve their contribution to the firm’s bottom line.

Preview of the essay: DIVERSITY IN THE WORKPLACE

This project deals with the issue of diversity awareness in the workplace. I decided to choose this issue, since it deeply concerns me. I was born in a country that people are separated in groups based on a social-economic background, regardless of their race or ethnic group. In the U.S., I came to believe that if you don’t fit into a certain stereotype, people usually don’t give a chance to get to know you and their opinion are formulated based on the physical form.
I work for an investment bank which is traditionally a predominant Caucasian white make workplace. There is no reason why foreigners, women, people of color, and the disable cannot have a fair chance based solely on merit. In my opinion, diversity awareness is a complex issue that should concern each and everyone in the workplace. Training should be mandatory from senior management and it should be monitored for effectiveness.
More and more, corporations are moving towards the global markets and lateral promotion where more than on person is responsible for the successful result of a particular project. To be an effective team player and to deal with an international staff, extensive diversity training has to take place. In addition that diversity awareness is important for the success of the business; it is also a way for everyone to have a chance to be educated on different ways to deal with a diverse group. In turn this becomes one of the vehicles that will give everyone a chance to promote high level of tolerance and mutual respect, regardless of our differences.
Today’s organizations are faced with the challenge of maintaining longevity in a global marketplace while managing a more diverse employee population. Although diversity has been identified as a critical success factor to assist in management within a changing marketplace, many organizations ...

... day assignment. The more we do it, the easier it becomes. Regardless of our gender, race, ethnic groups, religious believes, we all deserve a fair chance in our society, especially in a workplace where we spend the majority of our time. Once this is achieved, the result is a win/win situation. The company benefits on the profit side and employees will feel better about themselves and the company they represent.
I believe that in order to break through these barriers extensive education must take place. Also it is extremely important to monitor the progress of these education programs.
More and more the corporate America is moving towards the global market. In order to be effective in the business it is extremely important to educate people from different culture to get along in a professional environment. Most important it is the right thing to do. We are all human beings with equal rights, and the effective way for us to come together as one and be able to respect one another, is to be educated about culture differences. Once we learn these skills, everyone wins. The corporation will have people with better communication skills, with respect for one another, willing to deal with each other with more professionalism. This in turn boost moral which is shown by the team being more motivated in doing the work, and in turn increases accuracy and productivity.
All the above sounds easy, but the reality is that it is a difficult tasks that everyone, starting from senior management, need to be fully committed to. It is at times impossible for people to break away from old habits unless they persistently work on doing so with positive reinforcement.
Furthermore, diversity awareness provides the company with a competitive advantage in the global markets, and from a humanistic point of view, it’s just the right thing to do.

This is perhaps one of the best research papers I have read. I recommend this for all researchers particularly those who venture on business, management and administration.
