SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT Background Extensive literature exist on supply chain management affirming the significance of the process in which raw materials are acquired, transformed and delivered to customers, (Lambert & Cooper 1998, 2). Its evolution into a major business issue which when handled with correct magnitude leads to better financial results in a company was warranted, (Lambert & Cooper 1998, 2 and Harland 64). Its functional activities are aimed at procurement and sales issues in an organization, (Fox, Berbuceanu & Rune 166). Effective supply chain is a major requirement in all firms in order to remain relevant and competitive in the current market, (Houlihan 23).
