RESEARCH PORTFOLIO: BREAKDOWN OF SOCIAL ORDER IN AFRICA Introduction The breakdown of social order in Africa has been associated with periods of political instability, illiteracy and uncivilisation. To address the question, does the breakdown of social order in Africa point to the failure of the enlightenment project? Is an arguable subject that has been over and over been tabled without coming to distinct conclusion. Africa’s political independence provided an opportune moment for progress but this was not followed by economic development almost immediately. This could be attributed to lack of vision or otherwise a strict focus on enlightenment.
