Traditional boundaries have deteriorated due to an increasing technological ability to connect with those of other cultures resulting in a “collapse of space and time”; one is now required to create their own meaning and understanding of the world and our place within it. It seems all that remains constant, regardless of culture, religion, ethnicity or environment, is common human experience and the sanctity of human life - a humanist ideal that “individual human experience is the foundation of all knowledge and behaviour,” the core of humanity is consistent in each individual. In a globalised society an individual’s identity is now defined not only by local culture, language, ethnicity or religion but one is also able to draw ‘cultural cues’ ...... language, ethnicity or religion but one is also able to draw ‘cultural cues’ moulded by a global culture, the two are now inextricably linked.
