With the exception of the Baltic States which attained independence before World War II and already in 1989 signaled their political intention to dissociate themselves from the rest of the Soviet Union they were also referred to as the Newly Independent States (NIS). ... success story of the post soviet states. Its transition was halted more by the disintegration of the communist following fake states like Serbia and Montenegro which caused a disintegration of the Yugoslav state. The democratic is not developed as the country political process is still characterized by coups and constant political unrest. Due to political instability the economy is very devastated poverty levels are high. There is high social crime characterized by rampant drug trafficking and abuse. All the same the country is struggling towards stability.
In conclusion, it is evident that the post soviet states have risen from ruins and are making progress economically, socially and politically and should not be generally assumed to be failed but rather should be incorporated into the regional economic blocks to spur their growth.
