The post-Soviet states form what is known as the former Soviet Union (FSU). The block consists of the fifteen independent nations that split off from the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics after its disintegration in 1991. With the exception of the Baltic States which attained independence before World War II and already in 1989 signaled their political intention to dissociate themselves from the rest of the Soviet Union they were also referred to as the Newly Independent States (NIS). Its transition was halted more by the disintegration of the communist following fake states like Serbia and Montenegro which caused a disintegration of the Yugoslav state. Due to political instability the economy is very devastated poverty levels are high. There is high social crime characterized by rampant drug trafficking and abuse. All the same the country is struggling towards stability.

The disintegration of the great USSR marked the end of a great union and signaled the beginning of a modern Europe with the emergence of new nations such as Albania, Bulgaria and the like. Truth to tell, I really admire the history of these nations. They are somewhat similar to every other nation in the world whose existence is marked with struggles, triumphs and conflicts which eventually ended with victory.
