This paper is going to discuss the relationship between local civil service system and municipal police agencies. It is also going to identify and to examine some key components of the civil service system which include hiring and promotion, classification and compensation, dismissal and appeal and layoff. Lastly, it describes how policing agency adapts and adheres to civil service rules and regulations.
