this essay talks about the Agenda 21 which recognizes education and public awareness (chapters 31 and 36) as strategy for advancing sustainable development. Through sensitization workshops, environmental information awareness materials, advocacy, lobbying and negotiations to protect the coastal resources, community awareness will be enhanced. This therefore contributes to the mission of UNEP, Agenda 21 relevant goals and the goals for the Education for All (EFA).
