The demonstrated benefits or advantages of the Nissen Fundiplication surgery include the following; considerable decrease in the post-operative pain, shorter durations of in-patient hospitalization, great increase in patient acceptance, and a more quick return to productive employment.

Laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication has been found to be ninety six percent successful in relieving the major symptom for which the operation is performed. Nissen fundoplication is used most frequently. Even though we feel that either procedure leads to perfect relief of reflux symptoms, we find that Nissen fundoplication is to some extent less time consuming to carry out.
