a) Conformity- A type of social influence in which individuals change the attitudes or behaviour in order to adhere to existing social norms. When social psychologists talk of conformity, they refer to the tendency for people to change their perceptions, opinions, and behaviour in ways that are consistent with group norms.

• Performing. Members try to perform their tasks and maximize the group’s performance. They operate within their roles in the group and try to solve problems to allow them to achieve their shared goals.
• Adjourning. Members disengage from the group, distancing themselves from the other members and reducing their activities within the group. This may occur if members believe that the benefits of staying in the group no longer outweigh the costs.
